Ubisoft Forward kicked off with a trailer for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, a first-person game set on the planet Pandora. The game follows the story of a Na’vi warrior who was betrayed by the human faction and put into cryosleep, only to be revived several years later.

An extended gameplay demo was then shown, which gave a glimpse of the game’s first-person gameplay. The demo showed the player exploring several open-world biomes, including forests, floating mountains, grasslands, and different Na’vi tribes and clans. The gameplay demo also showed the player learning to fly with their own personal Ikran, the universes’ flying animals, which can be customized.

The game will launch on 7 December 2023.

XDefiant

Ubisoft’s first-person multiplayer competitive shooter, XDefiant, has had a successful first closed beta. The game features fast-paced, team-based combat with different factions and classes to choose from. Players can customise their weapons, abilities, and appearance to suit their playstyle.

During the closed beta, players were able to test out the game’s different modes, including Domination, Escort, and Zone Control. They were also able to provide feedback to the developers to help improve the game.

Ubisoft has announced an upcoming open beta for XDefiant, which will take place from 21-23 June 2023. This will give players another chance to try out the game before its full release later in the year.

XDefiant will be released completely in 2023, although an exact date has not yet been announced. The game will be available on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Stadia.

Roller Champions X Jet Set Radio

Ubisoft and Sega have teamed up for an exciting crossover between their respective games, Roller Champions and Jet Set Radio. The announcement trailer showcased the vibrant and colourful world of Jet Set Radio, with characters from the game skating alongside the Roller Champions athletes.

The crossover will bring new content to both games, with Roller Champions getting a new game mode inspired by Jet Set Radio’s graffiti tagging mechanics. In this mode, players will have to skate around the arena and tag specific areas with their team’s colours to score points.

On the other hand, Jet Set Radio will be getting Roller Champions-themed content, including new character skins, graffiti designs, and music tracks. Players will also be able to skate around in Roller Champions’ arenas with Jet Set Radio-inspired gear.

The collaboration is a great way to bring together two beloved franchises and introduce fans to new gameplay mechanics and experiences. Fans of both games can look forward to the crossover content, which is set to release later this year.

Ubisoft showed up with a plethora of games, however there was a few that were missing that I was hoping to see. We never got to see anything about Beyond Good & Evil 2, Splinter Cell, the remake of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time or my most anticipated game, The Division: Heartland.

 

While the showcase did show some amazing titles and updates, the icing on the cake for me would have been the games mentioned above. Hopefully later in the year we may get some more news on these missing games.
